Advanced materials elevating futuristic office aesthetics and design
The innovative use of advanced materials has transformed office spaces into dynamic environments, offering futuristic aesthetics alongside practical benefits.
The “Horizon” data center by Nordea, a cutting-edge command and control hub, exemplifies how these materials redefine workplace design. With over 2,500 square meters of workspace hosting 200 IT experts, this facility demonstrates modern innovation paired with functional design.
At the heart of the Horizon office lies a vision of seamless integration—merging technology, nature, and design to create a space that inspires collaboration and productivity. Clear-PEP® ECO and AIR-board® ECO panels played an important role in bringing this vision to life, combining aesthetics, durability, and acoustic functionality.
A Unified Vision for Modern Workspaces
The fusion center within the Horizon office required a design that not only addressed workflow but also ensured data security and efficient communication. Architects met these challenges by connecting three floors into a cohesive, two-story workspace. This open concept fostered collaboration while maintaining the high-security standards critical to Nordea’s operations.
The staircase, a centerpiece of the design, embodies the futuristic ethos of the project. Featuring infinity mirrors on both sides, it creates a mesmerizing time-space tunnel effect. Programmed lighting illuminates the steps, symbolizing a bridge between past and future. Adjacent to the staircase, a lush green wall emphasizes the connection between nature and technology, adding a sense of balance to the high-tech atmosphere.
Merging Aesthetics with Acoustic Solutions
The Horizon office incorporates clear-PEP® ECO and AIR-board® ECO panels for walls, partitions, and lighting elements, illustrating their versatility. These panels are not only visually striking but also functional, offering superior acoustic properties. AIR-board® Acoustic panels, with their honeycomb core and micro-perforated PET facings, reduce sound reverberation, creating a quieter and more focused workspace.
For spaces where sound absorption and soundproofing were equally critical, AIR-board® Acoustic Quiet panels were used. With one side micro-perforated and the other non-perforated, these panels provide a balanced approach to controlling noise levels while maintaining a sleek, modern look.
Design Inspired by Futuristic Themes
The design narrative of Horizon was heavily influenced by the aesthetics of science fiction. Monochromatic colors, geometric forms, and programmed lighting evoke a sense of cosmic exploration, reminiscent of iconic films like Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. These elements work in harmony to create an inspiring and forward-thinking environment.
In addition to the high-tech ambiance, greenery features prominently throughout the office. The combination of advanced materials and natural elements fosters an ecosystem that promotes employee well-being while showcasing a commitment to sustainability.
Versatile Materials for Creative Interiors
clear-PEP® ECO panels were integral to creating Horizon’s distinctive visual identity. The architects selected clear-PEP® ECO PC stage panels for the staircase, leveraging their strength, translucency, and ability to enhance lighting effects. clear-PEP® ECO satin panels were used for partitions, adding a touch of elegance while maintaining durability.
These materials demonstrate exceptional adaptability, suitable for custom lighting features, stage designs, and exhibition spaces. The wide range of color options and customizable features makes clear-PEP® ECO and AIR-board® panels a favorite among architects and designers seeking innovative solutions.
Building a Bridge Between Functionality and Design
Horizon’s design goes beyond aesthetics; it represents a holistic approach to creating spaces that inspire and support their occupants. The thoughtful integration of advanced materials enhances productivity, fosters collaboration, and reflects Nordea’s commitment to cutting-edge technology.
With their combination of acoustic performance, durability, and visual appeal, clear-PEP® ECO and AIR-board® panels exemplify the potential of advanced materials in modern office design. These panels provide a foundation for creativity, enabling architects to push boundaries and redefine interior aesthetics.
