ROSIE – clear-PEP panels inside the tallest 3D-printed polymer structure in the world
We are proud that our clear-PEP backlit architectural panel was chosen for this exciting project.
Since September 2021, more than 300 sketches have been created before finalizing the design. The knowledge and experience gained from the LUNARK habitat and habitation mission has been used in creating the ROSIE habitat and habitation module. Because of this, the structure is currently the world’s tallest 3D printed polymer habitat.
clear-PEP panels are attractive and lightweight thanks to the fact that they include a honeycomb transparent structure with light-diffusing effects. Thanks to these unique features, SAGA Architects chose them for their design. When illuminated or backlit, these panels generate attractive light effects.
Having a functional, realistic architectural representation of what a moon habitat looks like is a priority, as is having an airlock, climate control, user interface, and remote robotic assistance.
ROSIE will be tested with small groups of students and astronauts over a period of 10 years to achieve optimal research results.
We’ll make sure to let you know how the clear-PEP panels did once the 10 years trial is over, just stay tuned and subscribe to our newsletter, but in case you want to know more about our panels just keep reading.
Our clear-PEP panels offer unique design and limitless applications. Because of their TRIcore honeycomb polymer core, the clear-PEP architectural panels, are consequently not only suitable for a variety of architectural applications due to their visual appeal, but also due to their technical qualities.
If you are interested in testing out the clear-PEP panels feel free to visit the dedicated Sample Request page of these panels and place a request, and we’ll be more than happy to supply the samples at your door, and maybe further discuss your future project using our panels.
Some of the main features of the panels are as follow:
Translucent: honeycomb core panels with UV-resistant polycarbonate or acrylic facing sheets are extensively used as decorative elements in interior and exterior applications. Our translucent panels are widely used in buildings, commercial complexes, offices, hotels, airports, shopping malls, exhibition halls, schools, colleges, universities, warehouses, factories, and many other places where a decorative, lightweight, and insulating material is required.
3D effect: the special effects on the clear-PEP panel are due to light scattering and light absorption, backlighting, and the integration of lights and other decorative materials. Additionally, the use of colored lights or light shows can create stunning visual effects that are best experienced during low light conditions. Light scattering occurs when the light rays are dispersed when they come into contact with the surface of the panel.
Versatile: there are many ways to customise clear-PEP panels in terms of colour, surface, core, shape, as well as printed panels or special edge banding. Numerous possibilities in the individual design of the clear-PEP architectural panels regarding colour, surface, core, shape and special effects.
